5 TYPES OF PEOPLE FOUND IN RADIO STATIONS - BY EKEMINI JOSEPH

There's this friend I met on Facebook. He resides in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. He works real hard pursuing his radio dreams and at some time had developed a pirate radio station! He currently engages in a variety of radio production for Radio Nigeria Atlantic 104.5FM, Uyo. He also chose to share this fun piece with us. Enjoy!

5 types of people you will always see in a radio station:

1. The Microphoniac: One who loves to open the port just to talk,
flow, do his thing. Everytime he gets a chance, the  mic opens. He even spends
time running other people's shifts. He prays you fail your shift so he could run
it.

2. The Headphoniac: Addicted to headphones, and his fingers are kind
of clicky. Everytime, he clicks the mouse; Hover over people's computers
searching for sounds to produce or voiceovers. He is the production
type.

3. Writicus: Your one-stop copywriter. That guy who you often ask
'please may i use your biro?' and he replies 'sorry, using it. Busy'.
And he is busy for real. Everyone hides plain sheet (A4 Papers) from
him but yet he isn't satisfied with the dozen of 80 leaves he has
written on. Small thing, he don script. Drama, he is there. Advert, he
is available. Promo, before nko? Everything writeable, he is good,
except at writing or replying queries.

4. Lazy-iac: The one and only i can't-doer. He is creative.
He instructs but when asked to perform, he says ' i can't do it'. This
type plenti pass sef.

5. Studio Rat: This wan na name wey my producer be give pesin like me.
The lady can yab like say she no fit. Studio Rat, as she defined
is someone who is always seen in the production studio. Married to a
computer for hours. Producing jobs, internal and external. Learning
the ropes too. Directing people as they do voiceovers. Helping
established producers who have lots to do. He is all in all,
Microphoniac, Headphoniac, Writicus and at times Lazy-iac. That makes
him a studio rat.

PS: This is applicable to both female and male, though written from a
male perspective. This set of people are in every radio station,
private, public and community radio.
